GovernorsWhat do Governors do?School Governors form the largest volunteer force in the country and their contribution to our schools is greatly appreciated. School Governors have a vital role to play in bringing their experiences to bear on their role as a Governor and help to raise standards to ensure that every child in the school reaches their full potential. Together with the Headteacher, Governors set the future direction for the school and decide, collectively, how the school's budget should be spent. Governors monitor the impact of policies, oversee the use of the school's budget and respond to inspection recommendations. Governors provide the Headteacher with support and advice, drawing on their knowledge and experience. Governors are expected to participate in one (or more) of the Governing Body's committees, where they can use their personal or professional experience to contribute to the governance of the school. The committee structure consists of a Facilities Committee, a Staff & Student Welfare Committee, a Curriculum & School Improvements Committee, and a Finance & Policy Committee. Should you wish to receive further information regarding the activities of the Governing Body please contact Miss S Cooper, Clerk to Governors, on governors@brakenhale.bracknell-forest.sch.uk The Brakenhale School's Governing BodyThe Brakenhale School has a Governing Body made up of 18 governors, drawn from parents, staff, the Local Authority, and from wider in the community.
